"BARTER BANGLE" BY ANNA HEASMAN   e.g.   Art BarterJun 1 2011

Money is a tangible means of exchange. It is the primary method of achieving uniform trade in today’s globalised society.

‘Money is often defined primarily as a means of exchange, while on a concrete level the word refers to those classes of objects commonly used to perform this function.’ – Catherine Eagleton, Money: A History, 2007.

Barter Bangle is an idea initially influenced by the many forms currency has taken over time. Anna Heasman explores the idea of using jewellery as an alternative means of exchange. Following in the footsteps of the Art Barter movement, limited edition, unique hand-forged bangles are available, not for sale but exchange. The pieces will be showcased and available for offer at Central Saint Martins BA Jewellery exhibition. The items will be traded with the selected bidder at the end of the show. Make an offer and you may end up with a piece of exquisite jewellery from one of St Martin’s finest.
